Tokyo, Japan – August 4, 2025 – Japan Securities Clearing Corporation (JSCC), in collaboration with Aurora Solutions K.K. and Nomura Research Institute (NRI), is pleased to announce the publication of an Innovative white paper titled “Hypothetical Market Data Scenario Generation Using Generative AI.” This joint research explores the innovative application of generative artificial intelligence to risk management within central counterparties (CCPs).

Effective financial risk management is a core function of CCPs and has traditionally relied on transparent, rule-based statistical models. However, modern machine learning and generative AI techniques can capture complex data patterns, offering new and powerful tools for managing financial risk.

In this study, we take an initial step by applying a type of generative model known as a variational autoencoder (VAE), with certain tweaks, to generate synthetic market scenarios for 3-Month TONA Futures. We then assess their impact on hypothetical portfolios by estimating Expected Shortfall. The results demonstrate that GenAI-generated scenarios have greater diversity while simultaneously preserving complex data patterns as compared to traditional statistical methods.

These realistic, synthetic datasets help bridge gaps in historical data and support more robust risk management.

Aurora Solutions、野村総合研究所、日本取引所グループとともに、生成AIによる市場シナリオ生成の実証研究を発表

東京 — 2025年8月4日 — 株式会社日本取引所グループ（JPX）の一員である株式会社日本証券クリアリング機構（JSCC）は、Aurora Solutions株式会社および株式会社野村総合研究所（NRI）との共同研究として、「生成AIを用いた仮想市場データシナリオ生成」と題したホワイトペーパーを発表しました。本研究は、中央対向機関（CCP）におけるリスク管理への生成AI技術の応用可能性を探るものです。

これまでCCPのリスク管理は、透明性の高いルールベースの統計モデルに依存してきましたが、近年の機械学習や生成AI技術は複雑なデータパターンを捉えることが可能となり、金融リスク管理に新たな強力なツールを提供しています。

本研究では、まず最初のステップとして、変分オートエンコーダ（VAE）という生成モデルに独自の調整を加え、3か月物TONA先物における合成的な市場シナリオを生成しました。その後、これらのシナリオが仮想ポートフォリオに与える影響をエクスペクティッド・ショートフォール（Expected Shortfall）によって評価しました。結果として、生成AIによって生成されたシナリオは、従来の主成分分析（PCA）に基づく方法と比べて、複雑なデータ構造を保持しつつ、より多様性に富み、ポートフォリオへの影響も大きいことがわかりました。こうした現実的な合成データセットは、過去データの不足を補い、より堅牢なリスク管理を支援する有効な手段となります。
